APPARATUS

Wendelville Volunteer Fire Company owns and utilizes many types of fire and rescue apparatus including 3 class A pumpers, an all purpose brush/grass fire and rescue vehicle, an ambulance, two all-terrain vehicles and one boat. Members are trained in the skill of firefighting (both interior and exterior), interior rescues, first aid, fire police, cold water rescue, rope rescue and more. Some of the specialized equipment used by fire fighters are: Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), emergency medical equipment including having Automatic External Defibrillators (AED’s) on the ambulance and fire trucks, Hurst Rescue Tools also referred to as “The Jaws of Life”, a Thermal Imaging Camera that is used to identify hot spots in fire situations or to look for people lost or missing by identifying them using body heat, Gas Detection Meters for investigating CO alarms and much more.
